Native Themes, White Heroes

Other Films.jpg

Beginning in the 1960s, Hollywood films became much more sympathetic to Native American causes and more likely to cast Native actors than had been the case in previous generations. Though sympathetic, films like Little Big Man (1970), Last of the Mohicans (1992) and Dances With Wolves (1990) were written from and for the white gaze, often centering love stories based around a white character.
