Description

Batman Batcycle & Cave Cake Topper.
It is obvious that the world of comics considers DC’s Batman to be one of the most iconic fictional superheroes of all time. With the multiple storylines that Batman endures, comes along with the exposure of the many accessories, gadgets, and tools that he uses to fight crime. The artifact that I selected was the Batcycle & Cave Cake Topper. Therefore, this artifact alone obtains two accessories within the use of Batman. These two aspects are crucial regarding to the development of Batman within the comic industry because they play a significant role in how the fictional superhero utilizes to protect the city that he is indebted to.
Starting with the Batcycle, which made its first debut in ABC’s “Batman” in the episode “The Penguin Goes Straight” that premiered in the summer of 1966. The Batcycle was the idea and creation of two builders by the names of Daniel Dempski and Richard Korkes, who were both doing business with with Kustomotive in Burbank, California. It was then designed by Tom Daniel, and assembled within 5 days in April 1966. The inspiration and purpose behind the Batcycle was to intensify Batmans pursuit as he seeked to put a stop to his villains. The design is what brought the intensity, as Dan and Korky wanted to use the basic design of the scalloped fairing from a Yamaha racing bike.
In its first debut, the Batcycle didn’t get very much screen time, but eventually made a its iconic impression in one of Batman's pursuit scenes in the “Batman Movie” in 1966. Since the Batcycle was very much implemented into the world of Batman, there were many modifications regarding to its design. One of the most memorable modifications of the Batcycle debuted in the episode “A Riddling Controversy,” in which the design was sampled from the Yamaha YM1. Once the Batcycle was well established into the mainstream culture of comics, merchandise began to be assembled that hit the market, such as the Batcycle & Cave cake topper.
The Batcave can be considered to be the strong suit in the building of Batman's image. For those who know the background and origins, what inspired Bruce Wayne to become the Batman was the incident of him falling into a batcave where he developed his fear of bats. The Batcave was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane and made its first debut in Batman #12 in the fall of 1942. At first the Batcave didn’t receive much recognition because it was first just a secret underground tunnel that was between the Wayne Manor and an old barn where the Batmobile was kept. The Bat Cave then made its established appearance when Bill Finger and Bob Kane mentioned that there would be “underground hangars.” Eventually in 1943, the first Batman movie serial, which was titled Batman, gave Batman a complete underground lab where he researched crime and was introduced in the second chapter titled “The Bat’s Cave.”
