DescriptionDuring the 1960s, the campus of Bowling Green State University underwent a number of technological improvements. Foremost among them, the construction of the television station marked a significant contribution to the study of telecommunications and the media at Bowling Green.

The building has played host to a variety of media productions each affording the students at the university hands-on experience in these fields. Considered among the best in the state, the University television station and other video productions are currently broadcast from the building.

Listed below are additional highlights in the history of the building:

  • 1964, Board of Trustees approves plans for the construction of the building.
  • 1965, construction completed of an "educational television station" for $400,000.
  • 1966, officially dedicated.
  • 1966, first broadcast of WBGU-TV.
  • 1981, renovation completed for a total of $300,000. Improvements include centralization of services included the Telecommunications Department.
  • 1985, renovations completed at a final cost of $250,000. Improvements include installation of new 60 Kilowatt transmitter.
  • 1994, officially named Tucker Telecommunications Center for Duane E. and Margaret J. Tucker.
