Description | The Stroh Center is the home of the Falcon men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball programs. It is also a state-of-the-art venue for concerts, commencements, lectures, and numerous campus and community events. The facility includes locker rooms, meeting rooms, coaching staff offices for the teams, the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame, the Falcon's Nest merchandise store, a ticket office, and the Schmidthorst Pavilion. The Center also boasts the distinction of being the “most environmentally friendly building on campus." It was designed to meet specifications for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification. The facility is named for Kermit F. and Mary Lu Stroh of Wapakoneta in Auglaize County, Ohio. Mr. Stroh is a former member (1993-2002) and twice chairman of the BGSU Board of Trustees and an honorary alumnus. The Schmidthorst Pavilion is named in honor of Allen Schmidthorst, a BGSU alum and longtime fan of Falcon Athletics. Listed below are additional highlights in the history of the building:
