Nov 4, 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Husband: It has been 2 days now since you have been here. It seems a year. Yesterday they took my clips out over 15 of them. So I’m getting along fine the doctors say. They allow me almost everything to eat, even cady and gum, but no meat. I hated like hell to see you go the other evening. I think I would have been very disappointed if you hadn’t come to see me. Darling, I’m writing this myself and am laying flat on my back, so that the reason it is so fancy. But I did so want to write and tell you I’m doing fine and love you very very much, and that you mean everything to me. The girls from the office gave me a book when they came to see me they’re going to sign their names in it. Darling at nite when I can’t sleep I can hear the boats blowing for the tug and bridge and makes me think of you and then don’t get so lonesome. I can hardly wait til you get home. Well honey, this had tired me out so but will write again in a few day. Write often to me and take care of yourself and be careful. I send you all my love and kisses. Your loving wife Ethel. P.S. Roosevelt is still President and it is still raining here. Ethel. | |
