Oct 22. 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Husband: How is my sweetie. Gee I was so disappointed when you didn’t get home. I met two interurbans from Sandusky. Honey you’re not worrying about me? I go to the hospital on Oct 28 and operated on the 29th. Will be there until Nov. 8th. It is the Lutheran Hospital on Frankling Ave. If you can manage to come and see me if you get to Sandusky and if you have plenty of time, please come but I don’t think it is urgent for you to quit and come home. And darling I’m telling you something you keep under your hat. The surgeon has found that my tubes are closed and if he can’t open them it means no children. But darling, I love you a lot and will be thinking of you as I lay in bed, and you mean all the world to me. I called your father last nite and of course couldn’t tell him what I was going to the hosp. For and he is coming to see me. He was scheduled for a hold-up last Saturday nite and he had 4 detectives watching his place, but they didn’t show up. Some-body tipped the old man, about it. He sends his regards to you. Darling I can’t tell anyone else but I’m scared. And please don’t tell the fellows on the boat for what I’m being operated. Tell them it is a tumor. So I’ll celebrate your birthday in the hospital. Bill and Clara Stinson are coming up Tomorrow for the teachers convention and will stay till Sunday. Amos of Amos and Andy is a papa of a baby girl and now they have Ruby talking. I don’t know whether they intend keeping the girl on all times or not. I will write you one more letter before going and maybe will have mother or dad send you a telegram how I am. Do you want us to. And please write often tome and when you get home I’ll be up and around and can love you up lots and lots. I can hardly wait till the day you walk in the door. We have the living room all changed around again. Well sweetie, please write tell me your not worrying cause everything will be alright and will be if you keep on loving me. That's what Is worrying me. Oh yes the surgeon told me I was quite swollen and it had better be done and that’s what made up my mind to have it don’t and over with by the time you get home. So goodnite, sweetest husband and think of me. Loads and Loads of Love and kisses from your wife Ethel P.S. It will cost around $250.00. | |
