Oct 18, 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Hubby: How is my sweetie, taking good care of yourself. I see in the paper where a desk hard was tossed into a hatch when a heavy wave cause the boat to lurch and killed. His name is Albery Swanicky and was on the Harvey H. Brown. Darling as you most probably have read in my letters, me asking whether I should wait till you get home before going to the hospital. I have been thinking maybe it would be best to go right away and be all over it when you get home. Please answer this as soon as you get it, so I can make my plans. And honey I hate to you, but maybe could you give me a little money to help me out. It is going to take my entire bank account. I’m afraid. I’ll try to pay you back somehow. I’m trying to save every penny I possibly can. Bernie downstairs has bought a car. A 34 Chevrolet coach. I wish you could be got into the notion of a smaller car. After I'm alright and back to work I would help you out a little. Out house looks real nice since it has been papered. Only I don’t like our bedroom paper. And dad had to take down the awning this year. I called Charlie up about charging your battery and he has promised to come this week. Darling this is a picture of our new [?]ast office. Pretty nifty isn’t it? Gee is it cold here. All it does is rain and then rain some more. I was awfully glad to hear about the promotion. But honey didn’t you get that 5% raise yet? Well as this is Sunday and I’m here and you up in Buffalo, there isn’t anything to do. We are going out to Tim’s for a little while this afternoon and dad might take us to the movies tonight I hope so. Well sweetie this is all the news I can think and please remember to write, even if it is only a postcard even if you only say – go ahead or wait. I don’t want to go and between you and me I’m scared. But don’t let on to mother or dad. Bill and Clara Stinson are coming up this week end. Well honey I’ll have patience. I stood it this long. I guess I can stand it a while longer. But I love you lots and makes me feel bad that I should turn out to be such a fizzle. And I’ll need lots of loving when you get home. And please honey if you write to Wirt or Charlie don’t tell them anything and least of all when you expect to get home. Your loving wife Ethel | |
