Oct 3, 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Hubby: Received your most welcome check. You sure were prompt this time. But honey, you just cant get home too soon for me, cause honey, I loves you, just loads and loads. We are so busy at the office that they are thinking of making us work Sunday. But I don’t mind so much doing it, cause you’re not home and I haven’t anything else to do. Wirt’s niece is still here and he is taking us to Euclid Beach. Voltz’s moved out and he has gone to Columbus to work and she is in Berea with some friends and they owe Wirt $65. She left the bread box so dirty that Wirt says he almost vomited when he opened it. And the doctor told Wirt to quit smoking, and he says he really has given it up this time, but he has said that before The streetcar company is having an awful time trying to find a way to please everyone. I guess the 8c fare is out, and heaven only knows what it is going to be now. So when you come home you had better ask. Hazel had Walter’s car out the other evening and had a smash up. The car is pretty bad I guess and she was shakened up. Well sweetie you’re a lucky guy. The sweetest day is Oct 17. But honey, listen I’m not hinting that you should buy me some, cause you don’t have to. And my honey has a birthday this month. If we could only celebrate it together. Darling is it cold where you are. It is awfully cold here and I’ve got the winter blankets on the my bed. And all it does is rain. Sweetie do you know any body by the name of Bessie brown that used to live in Wirt’s house on Wyandottee? He was going to coax her to move back. Darling do you ever forget or regret that you are married to me. I don’t and I would do it again even for all the unpleasantness. Honey, please lets always be in love with each other forever cause I’m afraid if you should stop caring for me I’ll just stop caring to live. Honest [?]. Don came up to the office to see us today and wanted to know about when you would be home. He likes his new job real well. Well honey I have to close now cause dad is taking me down to the library, so I’ll have some books to read for over Sunday. Be good honey and please don’t honey go to a floozy. Please I beg you from the bottom of my heart. It would make me feel awfully bad. And honey, I love you, adore you and trust you. Your wife Ethel | |
