Sept. 16. 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Husband: I got your most welcome letter today. Darling you could have got home on Labor Day, you would have found me waiting. We got home at a quarter to four and I was uneasy all the way home and couldn’t hardly wait till we did. Darling, please let know me if there is any chance of you getting off for a trip, so if my work slacks up, I could maybe make the trip to Buffalo on a week day, but want to know for sure you won’t be coming home and me going. And honey don’t gaze at that picture of me cause you may be disappointed when you see me. Honey, do you think your brother Charlie would like a dark red shirt like yours? I thought maybe we could buy him one for Xmas and I would like to do my shopping early. It has been real hot here for a few days and today we had rain and a wind storm and now the wind is howling and sounds just like winter. Honey, all I do is dream of you at nite and they are so real that I can almost feel you and gee when I wake up it is so disappointing. Love is a wonderful thing and makes the world go round and what we won't do when we get together is nobody’s business. Boy, you should see the new electric sign Weinberger’s has. Dad say it just like downtown. It sure Is classy, and I buy all me stamps off of Charlie, he always asks about you. Sweetie in the funnies aren’t you getting a kick out of Wash Tubbs Lulu Belle and her husband. Darling don’t you think if you ever get the time you had better buy some more of the underwear you bought last winter. You had better buy 2 of each. Bounce needs a new harness. He broke the ring off the one he has now. But I’m going to wait till you get home so you can change his license. We ought to get him a black one with brass studs on it. He needs another bath, and some day mother and I will get together and hoist him in the tub. Well darling, I’m afraid this will be all for now, but shall write again. Did you get all the letters at Detroit. Have you ever heard from Wirt? Charlie said he got a card from you. Write me some more nice letters, won’t you sweetie. I’ve still got that Scotch saved for you. I got to go to bed now cause I have to get up at 6:30, and it is 11 now. So please honey, be good and take good care of yourself and try to get off for a trip if you can. And if you did we would spend it all by ourselves, cause honey I love you so much it hurts and nearly suffocates me. Oh yes, I called the Ore and Coal Exchange and they didn’t know anything about the boat or else wouldn’t tell me. Well sweetie here in a great big kiss and a hug as hard as I can squeeze. Loads of Love and kisses your devoted wife Ethel | |
