Sept 11, 1936 Cleveland O Dearest darling sweetie: Are you O.K? I feel some better. How I wish the snow was flying, then you would be coming home to me soon. I never thought you would miss or want me so bad. Love is a wonderful thing, but sure can make you feel like hell when you are separated. But never again I hope do we have to say goodbye to one another. If you can make it home any time, I guess I would just collapse from happiness. You remember Bill Stinson the school teacher that always comes up in October, well they are coming up the 23 + 24 of next month They have just bought a new green Ford V 8 coach. Lucky people. The WPA workers are putting on plays now downtown at some auditorium and they even have a radio program. I wonder if Charlie knows about it. I’ll have to inform him when I go over Tomorrow nite. Darling, I really believe I’m getting sick of movies. I’ve gone to so many since you have been gone that they are beginning to look all alike to me. Honey are you burning these letters up? I keep on reading yours over and over. Since dad has been working in their new place after they moved ha has been working so hard and is so all in and me with my long hours am all in by nite. That all we can do is flop in bed. The other nite I went at 8 o’clock and am going as soon as I finish this. Did you see or read where the Midge is stuck up in a mud bank at Saulte Ste Marie River. It seems there are an awfull lot of accidents this summer, so please be careful. You know Bounce hasn’t been feeling well lately and wouldn’t eat, well we found that if we left him run for a while he gets back to normal. I’d take him for a walk, but am so weak that he would have me all in. This morning as I was waiting for a street car, 2 niggers came along in a delipidated truck, and here the front right wheel come over and rolled over to the fruit store and they crashed over the curb and the whole works were bent under. I felt sorry for them, cause when they got out they stood there scratching their heads and looking dumb. Well honey I’m going to close now as this makes 2 letters you’ll get at Detroit and will write you one so you get it at Lackawanna, tho I think there is one there that you missed. But anyhow write to me and please tell me you love me lots and lots. I want to get the funnies ready for you and mail them so you’ll get them and this letter together. And please don’t fall in love with some one else, cause I’m sure they won’t love you as much as I do. I love you every minute of the day and nite, so please take good care of yourself and be careful so that this winter when we go to bed I can put my fanny in you lap and cuddle. Loads of Love and kisses your adoring wife Ethel | |
