Aug. 30, 1936 Cleveland O Dearest darling hubby: Just called up the C&P and guess you’re not coming to Cleveland and I have got lots to write for a change. We had a poker game on last nite, the usual crowd, and Wirt came over. His sister Ada’s husband was killed Tuesday in an automobile accident and he went to the funeral, and told his sister she could come and live with him for the rest of her life but that, that did not include Gene. And Wirt told me that while Gene was staying here with Him, Naomi would come over as soon as he went to work and that Gene and Naomi would go to bed and screw. He said he laid traps for them and knew. What kind of a girl is this daughter of his and then she has the nerve to say she wants to be a good friend of mine. And besides she goes to some nite club nearly every nite with some other guy. Wirt is pretty sore at her. She has been telling stories around that be in queer and diseased and that she guessed she would have to give up renting and move over to Sedalia and take care and let her father live with her. Wirt is making a will Tuesday and is leaving her one dollar. And guess he is leaving us or me something. He said some day he is going to need me and that it will be worth my while to care of him. What do you think? And when Wirt was up at Cedar Point he bought a bathing suit and had women by the bunches. He even took a picture of one of them. She must weigh at least 200 lbs, but Wirt says she was hot stuff. Wirt seemed to have a pretty good time last nite and says he’ll go to another on but won’t play cards. And now I’ll tell you something you must never breathe a word of. Your Uncle Walter Cowley called up Wirt’s niece Virginia and asked her for a date. So that’s the kind of uncle you have. Darling I haven’t gone to Charlie yet with the money. After working 8 ½ or 9 hours a day and all day Sat. I’m pretty well all in. I was going today, but it is pouring cats and dogs and is so cold. Soon our busy spell will be over than I’ll go. And next Saturday I’m going to Zanesville. And Gertie is getting married Tuesday. Gee, I am so lonesome for you. I love you more and more every day, Same with you? I suppose the picture is quite familiar to you? An accident just happened. A guy hit another as he was going to turn down dawning. His front wheels are bowlegged and his fenders look like an accordion. Even Bounce Is here looking out the window putting in his two cents worth. Well sweetie I guess this will be all now. My side is hurting pretty bad, and will write again in a few days and will try and find time to mail the funnies. But wish to hell you would get to Cleveland soon. Are you being good and true to me or are you like all the rest of the men? But we will make it up this winter, won’t we honey. You’ll love me lots and lots and won’t you and let me cuddle up to you and we’ll fight about the covers. Good old winter time. Honey write me a couple of letters. This letter has all my love included to you from your loving wife Ethel | |
