July 25, 1936 Cleveland O. Dearest Hubby: How is my darling boy? Are you coming to Cleveland? I am going to a birthday party tonite. It is a surprise party to be on Dolly. You know, Mr. Fraz’s sister. I guess I might as well go along. I haven’t anything else to do. I see you guys are getting a raise Aug 1st of 5%. Swell. Mother was telling Time and Rose last nite that you sent her ten dollars and me a box of candy, and Tose and Time got quite het up about it. And they said that was more than their son-in-law did for them. So keep up the good work. We are having company for dinner tomorrow. Did you ever hear us talk about some Scotch people we know who live in Detroit and is relation to Hazel. Well they are here for a visit and are leaving tomorrow nite. Wirt called up Thursday nite and wanted to know if I could go to Elyria with him again. I wish he would go and take a good jump. Darling I’m sick of going places by myself. And such nice evenings to go walking. I was down to Weinberger's today and Charlie wanted to know how you were and if you had been in Cleveland recently. My work is terribly slack. But I don’t mind cause if we were busy I don't think I could work every day. But am feeling a little better. Mother says if I’m not better in 2 weeks she is going to drag me to the doctor’s. I don’t look so bad now with my false teeth, but am no raving beauty. Say, I always meant to ask you how did that fellow enjoy that win you brought him. Does he want more or was that all can take. Are you forgetting me. You know what they say. Out of sight, out of mind. But you are never out of mine. I never wanted to see Winter to come a bad as I do now. Don’t you? Well dear, I don’t know anything of much importance to write and maybe you’ll be in Cleveland in a couple of days and then it is easier to talk than write. And you certainly don’t make much of an effort to write. Gertie’s fiance writes every day. Be good and be true to me and don’t get drunk or else. Do you remember last summer all the root beer we made. It was lots of fun even if we do fight once in a while, didn’t you think so. And it sure is nice being married to you. Well honey take care of yourself. Lots and Lots and Loads and Loads of kisses and love from your loving with Ethel | |
