Dear Dick,
Your little girl friend just returned from Wooster where she had been spending the week end. There was a flock of mail waiting for her, so we learned that you had received our letters.
I hope your fellows realize the hardships we have to endure here at home. We can't get cuffs on our trousers and now they have even cut out our whipping cream. They are making us drink a pound of coffee a month which is more than I previously used in a year.
As you know by now we went to the Duquesne game. It was one of the best we had seen there. I thought the Wooster boys outpassed them. The Dukes used to be able to work the ball down the floor and always have a man under the basket at the right time. But no more. They didn't seem to click. Wooster has some fine shots on the team this year. The game was rough as usual and someone was floored every few minutes. This time the officials did a much better job. I noticed that and Mose said so later.
We are buying gasoline again after a shut down period of three days. The B & C coupons are reduced to 3 gallons in-stead of 4. I may have to ask for more as I was figuring rather closely even before the change.
The Christmas snooping seems to be about finished. People are sure slinging the money around the stores. Street cars and buses are jammed full all day. By this time it is probably no military secret that we are having real winter here. Driving conditions are bad, and there are fewer cars on the road to cut up the ice.
Billy is working in the mill. He started at 8 P.M. tonight and will finish at 8 tomorrow morning. He expects to be off on Christmas. Bobby is still working on his paper route. Every day or so he brings home a big fist full of folding money.
I can't think of any more news, so I will put this page in Sissy's envelope.
