| Description | This is a picture of Kitchener's Island in Assuan, taken from our sail-boat just as we were leaving. It is a beautiful little island, the second one of two just over from the mainland on which Assuan is situated. The first island (in the Nile) is the Elefantine Island. Kitchener's island is so-called because Lord Kitchener had the whole of the little island turned into a garden. |
