Evanston, Ill., May 21, 1911 Papa, your papers come. How long does “Billy” have in Toledo yet? My dear Mamma: It makes me not a little uneasy to know that you have been sick. I will look for a letter from you soon saying just how you are, and what was the trouble. Would give a good deal to drop in at home today. It will not be long anymore. Commencement is June 14th, and I will get home about that time. Cannot set the exact date yet. Have some serving to do for Mrs. Dildine before school is out. She would like me to stay a few days afterward, but I think I will not unless I I'm in a pinch for money. Do not think I will try to go up to W is over Decoration Day. Mr. D. is at the Fon du Lac (Wis.) district E.S. convention for 3 addresses over today. Wonder if he will meet any of my friends. I stayed with her all night. We talked until about midnight, then we're still talking when Glenn got sick and we were both up. After one we were just dozing off when Glenn began to vomit and run off at the bowels again. It was after 2 before we really got to sleep. Mrs. D. Gave him some Castor oil, and he is better this morning. I am going over again tonight, but we will go to bed early this time. She wanted me to stay with her all day but I didn't want to. Mary B. and D Are going over to Mrs. Hyde’s this p.m. Was at the “Child Welfare Exhibit” at the Collosieum Wed. A great move for good, I believe will not write about it. That will keep until I get home. You probably are reading about it in the papers. Had my teeth cleaned too, Wed., and true to his habit, Pearson found another hole. An old silver filling has decay all around it. He could not do the work but has turned me over to one of the juniors, one of the finest men in this school, he says, a clean looking chap, at least. Have to go down again Wed. Had a little time to browse thru Marshall Field’s, the first since Ruth sent me her dollar. Will mail the things to her. The embroidery was 25 cents per, 24 cents + 12 cents + 20 cents + 31 cents + 16 cents= $1.00 + sorry to have kept Ruth waiting so long. One doesn't always find bargains, tho. The emb. may not be such a bargain but it is pretty and as cheap as you would get at home. Thurs. Evening three girls of us went boat riding. Were down as far as the lighthouse. Grand! Ed knows. Out about 1 ? hrs. Cost us 18 cents each. Since the girls know that I can row, I have several offers to go, so guess I can have all my boat riding free now if I furnish motor power. We have just one week of study before exams begin. Ed, two of your new Scribbler Bros. Joined the bands this week. That makes 4 “Bandits” who are Scribbs. Dreyer has stepped aside. I believe I told you he and flora have broken their engagement. We'll send with Ruth's things an invitation which explains itself. Was too tired to go, although I wanted to very much. Those who went said the engineers are the best entertainer yet. Love from Grace. Ed, “Comy” stopped in the lib. To talk about you Wed. Would like to have a letter from you before I go home, I would. |
