Ashtabula Harbor Dec. 21/1913 Dear Mabel: Wrote you a letter yesterday and told you I would be home for Xmas, but I guess I’ll stay another week for I like the place all right. ha ha. The Paine was here but she had a broken Rudder so they had to send her to some Dry Dock, so I’ll have to stay till (until) the Engineer gets through. Chief said they might be through by New Years. I guess the Paine went to Cleveland. Gee this is Sunday and a fine place to be on a Sunday. Say I wished you would send me a bottle of beer, ain’t had any beer since I’ve been here. So you sent all your presents, well I suppose they have them by this time. Well dear you won’t get your Xmas present till (until) I get to Cleveland. Gee I wished I could have a job like this all winter, we are all through laying up as much as we can do till (until) the engineer gets off. Gee we don’t know how to kill the time. I’m in bed all day pretty soft. Was up to the Air Dome last night, a Vaudeville house, with Mr. Miller, was back to the boat again by 9:00. Well I’ll have to buy another tablet now this is the last page I have. Thought sure this tablet would last me. Well dear I will close for this time hoping to hear from you very soon. With Love and kisses. Your Hubby, Geo. Best to all. | |
