Description | Troops from Company H, 2nd Infantry, Ohio National Guard, at Camp Sheridan in Montgomery, Alabama. This photograph belonged to serviceman Earnest W. Carter of Hull Prairie, Ohio, who wrote the following description on the back of the photograph: "Just after Saturday morning inspection. The boys with their shirts off were vaccinated for smallpox that morning. This was taken over in Co. H. 2nd." Once formally drafted into federal service, Company H became Company F of the 146th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, American Expeditionary Forces. |
