VERSE 01: As Michael Clancy couldn’t quite afford a motor car,/A motor cycle,/Was brought my Michael/You know those funny tandems with a wond’rous motor pow’r/and when you ride ‘em,/You sit astride ‘em,/One Sunday Michael took his sweetheart, Mary, for a ride/He meant to ask the little peach if she’d become his bride,/But Mary rode behind, and as they hustled o’er the ground,/The darned thing went so fast he couldn’t even turn around. VERSE 02: You really couldn’t see that motorcycle for the dust,/The noise was awful,/And quite unlawful/And ev’ry one expected that the thing would surely bust,/And split asunder,/And go to thunder!/Poor Michael couldn't stop the thing no matter how he tried,/You talk about old Paul Revere who took the famous ride/But Paul was never in it for a minute with our Mike,/Who took his Mary riding on his little motor bike. CHORUS: And all the horses were scaring,/And people were swearing,/And dodging about ev’rywhere/Excitement was filling the air,/From Main Street to Post Office Square,/And there was shouting and crying,/And dust was a flying,/And making most ev’ryone blind/Chug! Chug! Bing! bang!/You had best look out,/Piff! Puff, hot stuff! What’s it all about?/Oh, it’s only Michael on his motorcycle,/And Mary hanging on behind. | |
