THE BIG SELLOUT Well, BGSU students, you got what you wanted: a new university where you can have a more free, relevent academic environment. This is truly a fine accomplishment for BGSU, or any university. Some have been calling it a revolution. What it is, is this: A BIG SELLOUT. You have forgotten something: There's a GODDAMN WAR RAGING IN VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA. Remember? While you were running around worrying about whether or not your English prof would give you a "satisfactory" grade, men were being killed in Southeast Asia, and at the same time, those four Kent State Students were being murdered, and buried. Remember them, too? They died because of the war, because they hated it. And you BGSU students took this opportunity to satisfy your selfish, piggish whims. Those four students did not die so you could improve the education at BG. There's time for that later. That's the issue, not the S-U grading system, or other bullshit. What you must focus your attention on is the war, and now! And do not think that one student cannot do anything. What you can do is this: ABOLISH ROTC: As long as there is a war, ROTC remains an issue. ROTC supplies the Army with 80% of its officers. The Vietnam and Cambodian wars could not be fought without the ROTC programs. And by allowing a ROTC program on our campus right here, you are keeping the war going. If you do not try to abolish ROTC here, then you do not really give a shit about the 50,000 plus who have been killed up to now, and the same for those four at Kent. You could not care less. You're no better than that pig in Washington! The military is taking over - turning Amerika into a Fascist Police State. Look at your tax money. Over 60% of every dollar paid is used for defense. They are taking over in industry. Between 1965 and 1969, 38 Amerikan companies each did over $1 billion in contracts with the Pentagon. And now they are taking over our campuses. On May 19, the annual ROTC review will take place. We MUST stop it to show that BGSU will not tolerate militarism here. And then we must get them off campus entirely. WE ARE HARVESTING IMPERIALISM IF WE DON'T! You've got the power and the unity. If you don't use it now, the only power you will have is a rifle when you are in Cambodia in a few years getting your ass shot up. ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE! GET THE MILITARY OFF THE BGSU CAMPUS! SMASH ROTC! |
