May 5, 1970 Dear President Jerome, I am very proud today to say I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University. I wanted to write you a short note to say I support your decision to assure the students that the National Guard would not be called onto the campus for any reason. As a 1966 graduate, may I say I have always felt you to be a president with the good of the students as first priority. You've proven it again, as I heard on the radio today. I feel it is my duty to write you of my opinion--that it is better to have students throwing rocks around than possibly untrained, possibly prejudiced Guardsmen throwing bullets around.
