A Merry Christmas, Willard. This is one of the little villages in front of the Pyramids which is completely surrounded with water during the time of the inundation. As we sailed close to it the "kids" came wading out into the water after backsheesh.
My 1st room, shared with Clarice Bloomfield on Faggla St., Cairo
This picture, taken in my old room, shows my chifforobe, little dresser (bought from Jessups), little music stand, and chair. The light-colored little rug is one of two mates, both of which Miss Hosack gave to me. The position of the India-rug has been changed from its position in the other picture.…
Picture showing my little "dulab" (from Jessups), my arm-chair, the foot of my bed, and part of my book-case and stand. Picture of Drawing-Room. No. I. This picture was taken at Xmas-time and shows what our improvised fire-place looked like when we first entered the room on Xmas morning. The curtain above the chair on the left belongs to the door opening out on to the balcony. The window looks over Faggala Street.…
Picture of Drawing Room- No. II. This is the picture of our little Xmas-tree this year. Rather late for such pictures but better late than never. The window on the left, which partly shows, is the one that shows in Picture No. I.
Picture of Drawing room No. III. This picture shows the door into the Hall. It was taken from the north-east corner of the room. The devan is on the adjacent wall to the book-case, shown in No. II, and is just beside it. Of course we are moving our Drawing-Room this week, but since the room…
A good view of the front of our Shubra House, taken from the walk heading up from the front gate. The two windows on the left side of the house, on the right side of the picture, upstairs are two of my bedroom windows. Clarice has the room directly under mine downstairs.
