Zappitelli describes his time moving across Europe from Omaha Beach in Normandy, France to Belgium building bridges as an engineer, and meeting with his brother on the Omaha Beach beachhead. Smith describes his basic training; working at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio for the Army Air Corp; and his time as a civilain employee in the U.S. Budget Fiscal Office examining U.S. businesses.
