Description | Video oral history interview with Billy Allen about his experience serving as a medic in the U.S. Army's 291st Infantry Regiment, Company C, 75th Medical Battalion in the European theater during World War II. Included are his accounts of basic training, medic training, driving an ambulance during the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the Rhine River, and liberating concentration camps. Also included is a short interview with Mr. Allen's wife, Betty, about her experience on the U.S. home front during the war. Recorded in the fall of 2003 for Dr. Walter Grunden's World War II history course in the Department of History at Bowling Green State University. Interview conducted by Ryan Waggoner. Closed captions are included, as is a photograph of Allen taken during the war. |
