Description | Video oral history interview with James Cook about his experience as a U.S. Army second lieutenant of infantry in the European theater during World War II. Included are stories of his wounds during the Battle of the Bulge, travel home, and time spent as prisoner of war in Germany. Also included are Cook's stories of being a volunteer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs supporting former POWs. Recorded in the spring of 2001 for Dr. Kathren Brown's World War II history course in the Department of History at Bowling Green State University. Interview conducted by Jeanine Rees. Closed captions are included, as is a copy of newspaper article detailing Cook's liberation at the end of the war. |
