Small Groups, National Reach
A number of newspapers focused on women arrived in the late 1970s and early 1980s to cover what was seen as a lack of coverage in the mainstream media. New Women’s Times and Sojourner both arrived in 1975. New Women’s Times was published out Rochester, NY, while Sojourner began as a campus paper at MIT. Both grew to gain national profiles, though New Women’s Times only published for ten years. Sojourner continued publication until 2004.
