Native Characters, White Authors in Popular Fiction
A perhaps unintended consequence of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee was a proliferation of fictional works with sympathetic Native characters, but written from a White point of view. Native detectives, doctors, and warriors have become staples of popular fiction, often possessing somewhat mystical qualities that aid their cause.
