Changing the Narrative: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

Author Dee Brown published Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee in 1970, using oral histories and other primary sources to construct a narrative of White westward expansion from the perspective of Native people.  The book was eye-opening for many White readers and is credited with helping to reshape the popular narrative around Native communities.
