Introduction
This exhibit celebrates highlights selections from the Gary Hoppenstand Collection in the Ray & Pat Browne Library for Popular Culture Studies in the Jerome Library of Bowling Green State University to celebrate 40 years of donations by Gary Hoppenstand totaling more than 20,000 items including books, DVDs, and other items relating to popular fiction.
Dr. Hoppenstand received a Master of Arts degree in Popular Culture Studies in 1982 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in American Culture Studies in 1985, both from BGSU, and is a Professor in the Department of English at Michigan State University. He has published twenty-four books, including nine scholarly reprint editions of classics novels for Signet Classics and Penguin Classics, and over sixty scholarly articles on the topics of popular culture, literary, and media studies.
