First Library, 1914

Bowling Green Normal State School’s library collection was housed in the basement of the Methodist Church, and open from 4:00 to 5:00 daily. James R. Overman, the university’s first mathematics professor who also was in charge of the books, said “The entire collection in the Library could be depleted by the students in [that] one hour, and it often was."
