Recognition and Impact

Betty had many accomplishments and awards throughout her life including her induction into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame in 1978, its opening year. In the same year she also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Women’s Equity Action League for the ten-year anniversary of the organization. Into the 1990’s, Betty was less involved with the Women’s Equity Action League though continued to attend various meetings and conferences. Many of her younger family members took on responsibilities for the organization whether it be behind the scenes or acting as officers. Her niece Patricia even served as a national president for W.E.A.L. Betty’s family remembers her as an inspiration, not just through activism but through everyday life. Betty Boyer died in 2002, and B.G.S.U. created the Elizabeth M. Boyer Award for Student Parents which aims to assist those who qualify in meeting financial demands. W.E.A.L. closed in 2012 and donated the remainder of their funds to the recipients of this award.
