Description | Throughout the 1960s and 70s, University administrators undertook a number of steps designed to relieve the population pressure on campus while also attempting to expand the educational facilities of the university. Construction of the Moore Musical Arts Center, named for Hollis A. Moore and his wife Marian, is an example of this endeavor. By the early 1970s, the number of students enrolled in the music program at BGSU had expanded greatly. The number of practice rooms, classrooms, and rehearsal halls that had been sufficient were now incapable of providing adequate space for the study and performance of music. Therefore, the Board of Trustees approved plans for construction of a new facility that would be larger and maintain facilities that would allow for the expansion of the music program at BGSU. Since that time, Moore Musical Arts Center has been the focal point of the music program at BGSU as well as the hub for a number of related majors.
