| Description | Completed 1959, this was the first building on campus to be funded by the cigarette tax bond issue passed by Ohio voters in 1955 to aid state universities, public school systems, and mental institutions. First known as the Home Economics building, it contained classrooms, demonstration rooms, and laboratories for food preparation and textiles. A unique component of this building is the "suspended classroom" that links the third floors of Founders and the Home Economics buildings to create additional classroom space. Within a few years, the department outgrew the building and a need for more office space created a problem. In 1967, when Johnston Hall was vacated after the Student Health Center opened, the Family & Consumer Sciences Department moved half of its offices to the former infirmary.
