Toledo and Western Railway cars at Toledo Beach

Toledo Beach was located near Monroe, Michigan and was discontinued as an amusement park about 1925. The railway line from Point Place to Toledo Beach was known as the Toledo Ottawa Beach and Northern Railway.

The Center for Archival Collections (CAC) is pleased to partner with the University of Toledo’s Canaday Center for Special Collections on a special exhibit, “Arrivals and Departures: The History of Transportation in Toledo and Northwest Ohio,” on display April 17 through December 11, 2025 on the 5th floor, William S. Carlson Library, University of Toledo.

This digital collection, comprised of a sampling of transportation-related content held in the CAC, is meant to augment the in-person exhibit and documents the growth and development of transportation throughout the region, from canals to shipping networks, from railroads to modern automobiles.
