Hoverman Studio negatives collection
This digital collection features select images from the Hoverman Studio negatives collection (MS-0476). Hoverman Studio operated as a commercial photographers at 130 East 3rd Street, in Delphos, Ohio, beginning in the early 1900s. First known as Hoverman & Son, with John H. Hoverman and his son Roy, the studio was active in documenting the events and activities of the community. By the mid 1950s the studio was run by John R. Hoverman. The majority of the negatives in the collection were probably the work of John H. Hoverman.
The Hoverman Studio negatives collection consists of 425 glass plate and film negatives, with twenty contact prints. As the work of a commercial photographer, the collection includes numerous studio photographs of families, weddings, funeral displays, and school classes (primarily from St. John's Catholic High School and Delphos High School), as well as photographs of buildings and businesses in the Delphos area.
