Lake Carriers' Association Minutes and Scrapbooks
This digital collection contains selected digitized materials from the Lake Carriers' Association Records (GLMS 44), an industry and trade group composed of Great Lakes shipping companies. Created through a merger of several different organizations in 1892, the Association worked to standardize freight rates, labor conditions, navigational safety, and many other mutual interests. A legislative committee was created to lobby for Great Lakes shipping in Washington, D.C. The Association is still an active organization to the present day.
