George Reichert Collection
This collection consists of postcards and letters sent by sailor George Reichert to his wife Mabel and their son, Lyle, mainly in 1913. George was often gone from home for months at a time, and the correspondence in this collection documents how this life affected their family relationship. Of notable interest is the set of correspondence from George when he had to stay aboard ship in Ashtabula, Ohio, for several weeks at the end of 1913. Also present are several photographs taken aboard which feature George, Mabel, Lyle, and their family dog.
